Vision and Goals
I like to say that Dragonfly Delights Tea Room exists to help you create lasting memories through the delightful experience of sharing afternoon tea.
As I approach the opening day of the 2026 season, I am sitting with my pot of tea, gazing out at my wooded property, reviewing my goals and visions for the Tea Room. I thought I would share those goals and visions here with you briefly today. Nothing eloquent or properly ordered. Just random journal style thoughts.
Conversation friendly atmosphere
The goal for the Tea Room is to provide a space where guests can gather, building connections through conversation.
Occasionally it gets loud in our dining room. Most often though, it is quite comfortable to carry on a conversation with a guest across the table. This is in the control of our guests, we can gently remind our guests to lower their volume, then its all on them.
The mismatched tables and chairs, grandma table cloths, real china for Tea Time, pretty silverware, seasonal and holiday decorations. The warm and inviting aroma of a made from scratch soup on the stove. Gentle relaxing music in the background.
Connect generations
The vision is that multi-generations will visit in our unique atmosphere. Sit together, chatting, conversation that builds a connection strengthening community. Not just a mom with a daughter but an uncle with a niece, a grandmother with a grandson. I don’t want to see the next generation lose the ability to have a conversation face to face. Let’s put our screens down and meet in real time. Use those listening skills, really get to know the people we care about.
Build community
The Tea Room’s relaxed space is perfect for community to gather to enjoy a book, the tea room needs a book club. I believe the tea room dining room is an ideal space to share a passion, hobby craft, such as crochet, knitting, cross-stitch, quilting, needlepoint, embroidery. I would like to see lessons shared with young and old alike. I need to make time for this for myself.
Dragonfly Delights Tea Room strives to give back to community. With donations to the local food bank, second hand store, social prizes, silent auction donations and more. Giving to community is most rewarding. I need to make this a priority with intentional campaigns.
The TEAm at Dragonfly Delights Tea Room will do its very best to provide a space for its guest to gather. I desire that you gather often. Bringing your family, friends, neighbours, co-workers. Enjoy not only our space but the park as well. Riding National Park is an amazing place offering so much. From the trails, the beach, water, and more. Come visit us often but enjoy the Park while you are here. Fresh air, the water sounds, forest bathing, are all so beneficial to one’s health.
TEAm community
The Tea Room also provides a unique opportunity for its TEAm. Meaningful rewarding employment, in a quiet, stress-free environment. Oh, the stress comes, busy times, many guests all needing something at the same time, but the TEAm learns to manage the stress, so that spending days at the Tea Room doesn’t feel like work. The employees are a TEAm. We all help each other, no one person is exempt from bussing tables, washing dishes, scrubbing the restroom or mopping floors. The TEAM works together to make the guest’s experience a delight. The TEAm works together to support each other so that coming to work is something to work towards.
My first season was for some TEAm members their first job ever! What a rewarding to train up these youngsters in the way that I want them to go. I look forward to meeting and getting to know more individuals this season and the years to come.
Thank you for reading my random thoughts for the day. I have a small anxiety inside that could be mistaken for excitement as I prepare to open the Tea Room for the 2026 season. Sharing my thoughts here has helped me focus and assured me that all will be well.
